And then, mine.

In whose home does shame reside?

In whose home
does shame
reside?

Shame is not a feather
that must
land somewhere,
vacillating
over your house
and then
mine.

But still
we watch,
making wind with arguments;
preventing where it
settles.

Thinking:
we can change
the outcome of
what has already happened
by directing
shame.

Thinking:
on whoever’s house it falls,
to them
lies the blame.

But here,
I tell you.
If it is not yours,
then
it is not mine.
